Job description
These full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service positions are hosted by the Public & School Partnership (PSP) and serve youth and families in school-based settings across Cache County, UT. VISTA Members are placed in local schools to help improve and implement programs that support student academic success and attendance, college and career readiness, parent engagement, student experience, and intervention strategies. Specific activities vary by site. At this time, open positions include*: Green Canyon High School (North Logan) ** Internship credit may also be negotiated for university students. AmeriCorps VISTA is a National Service program. All AmeriCorps VISTA positions are full-time hours for one calendar year, as mandated by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Successful completion of a one-year service term qualifies all VISTA members for either an education award of $6345 or a cash stipend of $1800 (direct deposit). The pay, a living stipend, is $1350 per month.
Member Duties : Responsibilities vary depending on each school’s needs, but most school-based PSP VISTA members collaborate with school counseling offices and administrative teams. Possible responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: -Tracking student grades and attendance -Communicating with students, teachers, administration, and parents regarding student grades and attendance -Coordinating college and career readiness activities -Coordinating parent engagement opportunities -Coordinating positive student experience support activities (anti-bullying, suicide awareness, service clubs, diversity and inclusion, support groups, etc.) -Collaborating with administration and teachers to develop effective academic intervention strategies
