Beacon Resources, in partnership with our client, seeks a Property Accountant to join a real estate investment company in West Los Angeles on a direct hire basis.
Job Description (General) – The hired Property Accountant will perform day-to-day accounting tasks and assist in the M/E closing process for various properties. You will also provide all information necessary for timely financial reporting. You will report to a Controller.
Job Site Status (Remote/Mixed/Onsite) – Our client will consider a 100% remote status for out of state candidates, although the client’s preference is for the hired Property Accountant to go to the office on a hybrid basis (one to two (1-2) days remote).

Compensation/Benefits – Salary range starts at $70,000/year and increases depending on qualifications. Our client supplements base compensation with medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans.
PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT DUTIES
General Ledger (G/L) Accounting
- Perform all G/L full cycle accounting functions (A/P, A/R, Payroll, Bank Reconciliations, Journal Entries, audit) for all corporate entities
- Prepare intercompany expenses
- Record reimbursements
- Prepare month-end accruals
- Reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts
- Assist in closing the books monthly
Property Accounting
- Calculate monthly and quarterly management fees
- Assist with lease capitalization journal entries and reconciliations
- Invoice rents
Miscellaneous Accounting Tasks
- Help audit the balance sheet
- Assist in all Accounts Payable (A/P) matters
- Assist the Finance department in budgeting and forecasting projects by providing any necessary information
- Create financial statements in a prompt manner
- Assist in all external and internal audits
- Suggest any accounting improvements to Accounting processes and procedures
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements
- Accept any other ad-hoc tasks
PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
- At least two (2) years of property accounting experience
- Current or prior employment at a company with substantive real estate accounting transactions
Preferred
- CPA or CPA tracking
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Current or prior exposure to residential accounting

- Intermediate-level Excel proficiency (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF formulas, et. al)
- Yardi Voyager
Interpersonal
- Willingness to take on significant responsibility
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to supervise other accounting professionals
- Sound critical thinking skills
