The Project Engineer Sr. Advisor, Green Hydrogen will serve as the lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the development, delivery, operation, and maintenance of ENGIE green hydrogen projects in North America. The Senior Project Engineer, Green Hydrogen will ensure that all ENGIE green hydrogen projects are designed, constructed, and can be operated in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner when properly maintained

Knowledge of high and medium voltage AC electrical systems and DC electrical systems, including inverters, will be a significant plus

The Senior Project Engineer will apply engineering expertise and judgement related to all aspects of green hydrogen production facilities including electrolysis (alkaline and PEM), water treatment, gas purification, compression, metering, SCADA and plant BOP systems

What you’ll do:

  • Drive green hydrogen projects towards technical and market feasibility up to Final Investment Decision;
  • Provide leadership in the areas of safety, technology, environmental impacts, of the project during the business development and implementation phases
  • Coordinate and manage the project’s technical team which may include internal experts, external engineering and consultant firms, and technical staff from project partners
  • Work with procurement and contract management, actively participate in the definition of the project’s procurement and contracting strategy, and management of the project’s procurement activities (tender documents, tendering, negotiation, contracting and invoicing
  • Define identify & mobilize resources, and manage progress on the technical deliverables for the various phases of the project
  • Collaborate with the assigned Project Manager, support the development of the Project Management Plan with all its elements, in accordance with ENGIE´s requirements
  • Assist the Project Manager by defining, managing and monitoring the project´s engineering and design, schedule, budget, scope while working with other project managers and risk management
  • Lead the execution of the technical studies with relevant consultant engineers, while organizing and leading technical project reviews
  • As part of the project team, review, contribute to, and participate in the negotiation of EPC(M), Supply, Offtake or other type of contracts of the project(s)
  • Prepare and coordinate with the Project Manager, the technical hand-over to the Project Delivery team at project FID in accordance with the applicable ENGIE´s procedures
  • Organize and perform technical REX sessions at the end of the project, or its phases, to extract learnings and improvement paths
  • Work with Project Managers, structure and budget the operation and maintenance of the project, inclusive of staffing and mobilization plan, interfaces with O&M vendor, O&M agreements (LTSA), KPIs, pricing structure while carrying out other duties assigned

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related technical discipline, preferably chemical, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in design, construction and operations support of large facilities
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of total working experience, a portion of which should have been related to operational facilities and construction
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proven experience in hydrogen production, chemical, oil & gas, or other large process based facilities and their design
  • Able to manage multiple ongoing activities and be flexible, adjusting to changing conditions, develop and present alternative courses of action, and recommend a course of action to resolve technical issues using engineering judgement
  • Experienced in design, constructability, installation, compliance, performance, cost control, budgeting and procurement while participating in risk assessments and mitigation planning
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and Procore

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • A Professional Engineer license is strongly preferred
  • Able to travel for several days at a time and spend up to 50% of their time at project locations remote from the base work location

  • Salary Range: $105,910-$270,530, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
