SMSI is looking for an experienced Project Engineer with expertise as a strong leader with skills to focus on multi discipline teams, and assist Project Mangers in daily technical and administrative duties.

Job Description:
Project Engineer will direct a multi-disciplined team of engineers and designers, and serve as the primary technical interface with clients, project management, and procurement professionals. This position serves as a liaison between the Project Manager and technical disciplines and is responsible for:
Assisting the Project Manager with managing scope, schedule and cost.
Supporting development of functional and operational requirements, design criteria, and identification of applicable codes and standards for new design packages.
Supporting the LANL engineering services team at TA-55, Plutonium Facility with facility system upgrades and equipment installation design tasks.
o Developing modification design change packages.
o Dispositioning of field change requests and Nonconformance Reports.
o Reviewing and approve design performed by Design Agencies external to LANL.
o Reviewing vendor data.
o Assisting in the development of engineering project management plans.
o Assisting system engineers in developing and maintaining technical baseline documents at project closeout.
o Leading design activities.
o Ensuring client satisfaction.
o Coordinating engineering disciplines.
o Managing discipline interfaces.
o Assuring technical client.
o Communicating with the customer.
o Managing design deliverables.
o Managing project resources.
o Managing technical changes.
o Expediting scheduled activities.

Required Experience:
Minimum 10 years of engineering experience and 5 years in Project Engineering
Background in nuclear facility design and engineering.
Experience with nuclear quality assurance standards.
Experience with supervising engineers and designers.

Education:
Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Sciences in Engineering
Certifications: Professional licensure is highly desired.

Additional Skillsets:
Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments.
Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and Scheduling Software (MS Office, Primavera).
Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.

Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
DOE Clearance - Applicant must be able to obtain a DOE clearance.
Location - Los Alamos, NM (other locations may be available)
