Expectations:
Huntington Hospital, located in Pasadena, California, is seeking a board-certified internal medicine physician with at least three years of outstanding clinical, academic, teaching, and administrative experience to serve as Program Director of the Internal Medicine Training Program. The primary responsibility of this position, which will include 30-50% administrative, non-clinical time, is to lead all activities of this well-established residency consisting of 28 internal medicine residents. The identified candidate will spend their remaining effort building a clinical practice within Huntington Health Physicians or in the community, as well as attending the resident-run inpatient medicine service. Huntington Hospital residents receive an individualized learning experience and benefit from close interaction with our teaching faculty. There are 7 full-time GME teaching faculty in the program as well as community faculty who support specialty clinics and education. Many of our teaching faculty hold clinical appointments at the USC Keck School of Medicine, City of Hope, and with Cedars-Sinai Health System. Major responsibilities include: • Authority and accountability for the Internal Medicine residency Design and maintain a curriculum that meets the needs of the program and the missions of the hospital and sponsoring institution including expansion of our ambulatory training experience to support the retention of primary care doctors in our community. Evaluate faculty upon joining the program and regularly thereafter Establish programs for faculty development as educators Communicate regularly with the DIO, Chief Clinical Officer, GMEC and ACGME Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to training residents in each of the ACGME competencies Ensure compliance with all institutional and ACGME policies and requirements Oversee resident recruitment Oversight of program budget, review of performance measures and use of staff resources

Qualifications:
  • Board Certification by ABIM
  • Minimum 3 years of educational or administrative experience in graduate medical education
  • Current certification by the ABIM
  • Must be licensed or be able to obtain CA license.
  • Must be able to obtain a Huntington Health medical staff appointment.
  • Must be involved in on-going clinical activity
  • Must have experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team to create an educational environment that promotes high-quality care, patient safety, and resident well-being.
