PROFITABILITY ANALYST

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a member of the Metrics and Client Profitability team within Finance, the Profitability Analyst will participate in the monthly profitability reporting process, reconciliations, and ad hoc requests supporting the bank's client and profitability reports. They will be responsible for the maintenance of the bank's profitability reporting system. They will assist in research, responding to audit inquiries, and other special projects. They will work closely with the bank's technology team to rectify data quality issues. This role requires the ability to translate business problems into solutions/approaches driven by data analysis, business acumen, creativity, and clear, concise, and effective communication. This role will focus on these primary dynamic analytics: descriptive (what happened?), diagnostic (why did it happen?), predictive (what will happen?), and prescriptive (how can we make it happen?).

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Maintain and enhance the bank’s profitability reporting system.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and data integrity review of data used for client profitability.
  • Act as a liaison between the technical team, business partners, and end-users of the profitability system.
  • Perform data analysis by writing complex PL/SQL queries on various source systems and data warehouse to find trends and anomalies in the data in support of the requirements for various strategic and/or tactical projects.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on a particular system and its data, and guide the development activities with assumptions and data dependencies.
  • Identify data quality issues and concerns and support the data governance initiative by being involved in various data initiatives.
  • Conduct on-going analysis of the business, operating practices, and data flows within and between various systems and applications.
  • Ensure all documentation such as data mapping, data lineage, functional spec, and any other technical documentation are detailed and up to date.
  • Responsible for leading data analysis and design tasks for specific projects in the Finance group.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED


Must-Have*

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an analyst in Finance or Profitability Metrics required, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Experience in the implementation of profitability solutions.


Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Accounting, or similar areas of study strongly preferred.
  • Prior hands-on experience in using SQL or Business Objects report queries a plus.
  • Prior experience in Financial Services industry a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of project management technique.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Ability to learn new and emerging concepts quickly.
  • Ability to work with large datasets.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at a time.
  • Experience learning/navigating software systems and databases.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as in highly collaborative situations.
Compensation
Starting base salary: $41.83 - $66.81 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
