The Production supervisor is responsible for assuring safe, efficient, and timely operation of the assigned department. As well as leading the hourly work force, this position has the responsibility to coordinate manufacturing engineering, material supply, and product engineering services to assure efficient and timely completion of products that meets the quality expectations of our customers. This position is for 2nd Shift (3:30 PM - 12:00 AM).

The Role:

• Organize and supervise direct labor
• Employee issue resolution
• Assign and oversee personnel to achieve labor efficiency targets, productivity and cycle time
• Prioritize activities on rig schedule and take necessary action on rig amendments to meet production schedules
• Focus support organization activities to eliminate performance obstacles
• Ensure safe operating practices
• Work with Manufacturing Engineer to establish process methods which produce consistently high quality output
• Assure that products are of the highest quality by performing quality at the source inspections and take action on quality control
• Organization and cleanliness of the department
• Implement guidelines to control operational costs
• Assist in capacity planning and monitor product flow to satisfy schedule requirements

Skills and Experience:

• AS or BS degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Special Knowledge, Certification or License
  • Basic computer skills - Word and Excel
  • Ability to read blueprints and read from a Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Experience leading teams
• Minimum Years of Work Experience: At least 5 years in a similar manufacturing industry.

Must assure the effective utilization of labor resources. Balance labor resources to satisfy the ever-changing workload of the facility. Must continually readjust labor resources to react to shortages, engineering issues, and customer changes. Effectiveness in this area is dependent on the effective communications between the Production supervisor, PIC, Purchasing, Marketing, Engineering, Human Resources, labor resources, and peers.

Another problem is the identification of employee behavior patterns. Identify overachievers, satisfactory employees, and those employees with inappropriate behavior issues. Initiate appropriate action to motivate each employee's behavior pattern. Good employees should receive positive recognition from the Production supervisor. Employees with behavior or performance issues should receive the necessary training or attention to correct poor performance. However, the Production supervisor must be willing to take disciplinary action when necessary to correct the continued inappropriate behavior of poor performers.
