Job Title: Production Supervisor

70-80K per year

5% bonus

Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible to oversee shift production along with support group activities to produce high quality parts following established procedures and work instructions. The Production Supervisor contributes directly to manufacturing goals in a highly participatory environment and must be able to assume the Value Stream Manager responsibilities as required. The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and maintaining the highest standards of quality and delivery to accomplish manufacturing objectives and to satisfy customer expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all safety procedures are being followed. Takes an active role in teaching employees safety procedures and proper work methods
  • Evaluates department procedures and work instructions, revising if needed, to ensure high efficiency, effectiveness and utilization as well as employee safety.
  • Oversees shift production which includes providing hands-on direction and support for production, machining, or support services departments in the resolution of problems.
  • Oversees supervision of production department employees and support department employees.
  • Recommends and administers discipline where needed.
  • Conducts performance appraisals and competency evaluations for department employees. Identifies goals and objectives for employees to obtain and be measured against.
  • Schedules shift activities, assign work, and coordinates individual efforts to ensure the production and machining of high quality products.
  • Schedules overtime coverage as required following established guidelines.
  • Supports the tool & die and maintenance and other services’ effort to keep a continuous flow of high quality parts through the plant and to the customer by providing and reporting the significant aspects of the visual, dimensional, and process information available.
  • Uses daily production and machining reports as a tool to identify and address causes of high scrap and downtime.
  • Monitors process compliance and addresses with appropriate operator when process is not followed.
  • Manages housekeeping by maintaining visual management to the established standards in all production areas.
  • Administers rules and policies as contained in the employee handbook.
  • Identify and drive major quality and productivity improvement opportunities within the facility.
  • Takes an active role in keeping employees productive and working in a most efficient manner.
  • Completes all required paperwork. Daily reports, manpower reports, and Kronos timekeeping for production employees.
  • Ability to work overtime

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, and the ability to read, write and reply to emails. Knowledge of Kronos Timekeeping system is a plus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to wear the protective clothing and equipment designated in work instruction procedure.

Bonus:

  • This plan provides a financial reward of up to 5% of gross earnings, when plant performance for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery meet or exceed the established targets.
