Philo is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Product Strategy Associate to help drive the earliest ideation, validation, and product definition efforts within our venture studio, as well as support our portfolio companies in their ongoing product management efforts. This will be an exciting and dynamic role, key to the success of Philo and its portfolio companies, with the opportunity for significant personal upside associated with portfolio company success.

The Role:

This role is a critical early hire for Philo, intended to accelerate Philo’s pace of product ideation and launch. Reporting to the Head of Product, the Product Strategy Associate will develop and action unique problem and solution insights during the earliest stages of portfolio company development. The Product Strategy Associate will work closely with Philo partners and platform team members (designers and engineers), as well as Founders-in-Residence to quickly validate/invalidate opportunities and drive validated opportunities to launch. The successful candidate will have a passion for creating value through entrepreneurial efforts, creative problem solving, strategic thinking extending beyond the traditional limits of the product management purview, and effectively communicating strategy to influence decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in all aspects of Philo’s ideation, discovery, and validation processes
• Lead problem and solution discovery efforts through internal stakeholder and customer interviews, market research, and iterative experimentation
• Drive the earliest stages of a portfolio company’s product vision and roadmap, in partnership with the responsible Philo partner and Founder-in-Residence
• Partner with design and engineering teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of products
• Act as a strategic partner to portfolio company leadership, creating value wherever and however possible
• Serve as a customer advocate through all stages of the product lifecycle
• Support Philo efforts to continually improve internal activities and processes facilitating efficient product ideation, validation, launch, and growth
• Actively participate in new business opportunity ideation

Required Qualifications & Capabilities:

• Passion for 0 to 1 product and company development and excitement for the opportunity to work with numerous new businesses at any given time
• Product management experience or startup, venture capital, investment banking, or strategy experience with a passion for creation and interest in product management
• Familiarity with product management tools and best practices
• Exceptional communication, presentation, organizational and analytical skills
• Humility, desire to learn, and bias for action

Nice to Haves:

• Undergrad degree from a top university in strategy, product management, computer science, design, or a related field
• Advanced analytical capabilities
• A meaningful understanding and ability to apply product management best practices in a 0 to 1 environment developed in organizations leveraging such best practices

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
