PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Product Analyst's primary function is to enhance the company’s existing product offerings and support the introduction of new products into the marketplace. Assists with NBIC’s product development process by examining customer/market needs, competitor programs, and claims trends. Works on developing and implementing product change proposals that support corporate EODB, Production, Selection, and Vitality strategies. Contributes to the company’s competitive intelligence platform through careful and consistent examination and reporting on key competitor pricing and product actions, financial results, and market expansion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works on developing product change proposals; manages the implementation of approved initiatives.
• Research insurance products and services, including monitoring and evaluating competitors’ products and services to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Contributes to developing and presenting NBIC’s competitive intelligence processes, including gathering, analyzing, and reporting on market and competitor information and utilizing the analysis to recommend changes to ensure competitive and profitable products.
• Develops policy language for new and existing forms.
• Assists with the form filling process, which includes preparing the filings and state-required supporting documents via SERFF to meet implementation timeframes.
• Assists in the product development initiative concerning new state entry.
• Collaborates with departments across NBIC in development efforts and enhancements to new and existing products.
• Establishes a solid working relationship with all distribution channels.
• Work across business units to ensure that forms and endorsements are interpreted, programmed, and implemented correctly in policy writing systems and underwriting guidelines.
• Leads own work streams, executes on deliverables within agreed-upon timeframes, communicates results, and makes recommendations within a team project environment.
• Provide data and analytical assistance to senior members of team as needed.
• Presenting results and recommendations to senior management.
• Use available data to make decisions on individual flood risks submitted as new business, while adhering to Flood Underwriting Guidelines.
• Provide quotes and issue new flood endorsements; endorse existing accounts for agents.
• First responder to agency contact relating to Flood Endorsement.
• Handle lender inquiries and educate lenders and agents on private flood insurance acceptability.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Degree preferred
• 2+ years experience

Describe specific requirements:

• Homeowners product experience preferred with SERFF experience a plus.
• Experience in competitive research and market analytics.
• Underwriting experience preferred.
• After sufficient training to understand the requirements, should have the ability to perform a list of specific instructions with a limited amount of supervision.
• Intermediate level of experience with MS Excel and MS Access Database applications and can build spreadsheets and create databases from raw data extracts.
• Proven organizational and timekeeping skills as well as a strong sense of attention to detail are essential.
• Strong communication skills with varying business units/internal customers.
