Southwire Job Description
The Process Support Engineering Manager is responsible for improving process efficiency with increased quality. The candidate must be able to work without direct supervision. In support of the OPS Culture, the Process Support Engineering Manager will provide technical support to operators, assist with and/or conduct new product trials, provide training to operators on new processes, provide trouble shooting assistance to operators, conduct root cause analysis on issues and problems, develop and train operators on standard work, and directly support all safety initiatives.
The position will service the Infrastructure business and will require the ability to use discretion and independent judgment. The person will be developing processes for improving efficiency or quality, and support new product trials and develop needed training curriculum.
- Provide direction and guidance during new product implementation
- Manages time and material resources
- Provide updates and information to operators and leadership on a regular basis
- Follow all applicable safety and environmental rules and regulations
- Must be familiar with various types of equipment in the plant
- Identify and drive implementation of process improvements
- Accountability for productivity, scrap/waste, quality Product, process, and overall improvements
- Reliability of equipment and understanding process needs and opportunities
- Evaluate new equipment installs and make recommendations to improve performance
- Drive Harmonization of internal processes withing plants
- Oversee extrusion screw & barrel programs within plants
- Plan strategies for extrusion development of designs
- Collaborate closely with plant leadership for alignment with company goals
- Work with internal process support teams within plants to drive consistency and further optimize processes
- Work with raw material suppliers and ensure the performance of their products are met
- Assist/work with Cofer Technology Center when product specifications changes are made
- 5+ years directly related experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A working knowledge of wire and cable manufacturing
- Ability to function and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced operating environment is critical.
- Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization with business units throughout the company
- Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and process issues, as well as, train operators as required
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent logic skills
