Starting Salary $26.50/hr and up. (Depending on Experience)

DuPont’s Water & Protection is recruiting for Technical Production Operators to join its dynamic team located at its manufacturing site in Edina-Minneapolis, MN. The Technical Production Operator in the Membrane production area assists with the production of water elements (membrane). Technical Production Operators will be involved in different rotations on the production lines. Technical Production Operators rotate roles (described below) based on business, shift and ergonomics needs. Besides the primary rotations, the operator needs to fix or adjust the machines with hand tools as needed.

Available Shifts: 2nd Shift; 3rd Shift; 5th Shift

Operator Rotation 1 - Machine Operator

  • Splicing and loading of web rolls onto unwind by job related equipment as needed.
  • Following splice through machine.
  • Mixing of chemical vats.
  • Perform machinery and chemical checks to monitor the process.
  • Check membrane quality at machine viewing station frequently. Look for and eliminate common defects.
  • Monitor machines, anticipate and respond to alarms as they arise.
  • Keep the machine area cleaned and organized. Stack pallets by driving fork lift or manually. Empty trash from the area.


Operator Rotation 2 - Chemical Operator

  • Run machine and make membrane within specifications.
  • Perform machinery and chemical checks. .
  • Monitor machines, anticipate and respond to alarms as they arise.
  • Take off sub-rolls from rewind by using hoist.
  • Fill out run sheets/scrap reports.
  • Monitor chemical tank levels using a control panel and mix/test new chemical as needed.
  • Prepare a chemical mix by using dolly, cart, buckets, and vacuum. Mix chemicals manually.
  • Keep areas clean and organized.


Operator Rotation 3 - Testing Operator

  • Prepare quality tests, perform quality testing of membrane and chemicals, and document results.
  • Finish entries and scrap report.
  • Print labels for tested membrane rolls/runs.
  • Move membrane carts to staging area by using pallet jack or forklift.
  • Remove scrap rolls from carts and haul to dumpster by using pallet jack, fork lift or manually.
  • Perform machinery checklists and housekeeping.
  • Monitor storage tank level of chemical and off-load chemicals.
  • Mix, monitor and fill hazardous chemical totes and tanks.
  • Off-load bulk chemicals.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of pneumatics, powered and free conveyance systems, and servo motors.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of chemicals and reactive chemicals.
  • Develop the ability to handle chemicals (hazardous materials).
  • Use computers with Windows, Microsoft Excel. Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) and company specific application is plus.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D. (or equivalent) required; a 2-year technical degree (or equivalent) is preferred
  • A minimum of 2 or more years of related manufacturing/production experience is preferred
  • Previous work experience in a food manufacturing/GMP environment is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly is required
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English is required
  • Must be willing and able to work in manufacturing environments to include; wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, hardhats, hairnets, and steel-toed shoes are required
  • While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to stand; walk (up and down stairs); twist; bend; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb for extended periods of time; and will require the ability to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and push up to 65 lbs is required
  • Ability to work a fixed 8 or 12- hour night shift, fixed schedule; including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed on a regular basis is required

This role is located in Minneapolis, MN and may require less than 5% of travel
