The Weidmann Group, headquartered in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, is active worldwide in more than 30 locations and employs a staff of 3’200.

Purpose: Provide engineering and technical expertise for the Board production facility, in order to continuously improve plant safety, quality and productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Guide efforts in support of manufacturing productivity with process troubleshooting, quality improvements and training.
  • Collect and analyze data, monitor key variables, document findings in report form.
  • Lead process-engineering and continuous improvement support for new and existing products.
  • Provide on-call technical support for the St. Johnsbury manufacturing facility and assist to troubleshoot board machines or quality issues. This will require periodic weekend coverage duties.
  • Run development trials to optimize operations on the board machines and within the components area.
  • Conduct training with board machine and board components operators as required.
  • Interact and collaborate daily with Management, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operators and Lab personnel to implement changes and improve process performance.
  • Manage projects; including the purchase, install and startup of new process equipment, the enhancement of existing processes, and the development of new products.
  • Recommend new equipment or chemicals.
  • Follow all applicable Safety and Environmental requirements.
Entrance Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Paper Science, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and three to five years experience in a manufacturing setting desired.
  • Effectively utilize computer-based applications including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in team based activities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self motivated.
  • Willingness to teach and train others.
