JOB GOALS: To lead and coordinate educational, administrative, and student services related activities at the middle school by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide leadership to the school community in developing and focusing on a shared vision, mission, goals, and continuous school improvement planning consistent with the corporation’s vision and goals.
  • Implement effective programs focused on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student behavior.
  • Plan and participate in professional development activities.
  • Supervise and evaluate all certified and classified staff members.
  • Coordinate and oversee implementation of state mandated assessments.
  • Purchase and allocate supplies, equipment, and instructional materials as needed.
  • Create and maintain a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Plan and supervise emergency preparedness programs.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the greater community, including colleges and community organizations.
  • Communicate board policies and administrative procedures to staff while monitoring compliance.
  • Supervise preparedness of reports for the superintendent's office.
  • Supervise the maintenance of student records.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervise classroom teachers and support staff within the school organization.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the corporation’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for interviewing, recruiting, hiring, and training employees.
  • Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Responsible for appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Responsible for addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for supervising extracurricular events.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must hold a valid Indiana Building Level Administrator license.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have three or more years of successful teaching experience.

Must hold a Master’s degree in School Leadership or related field.

Minimum of three years successful school administration experience preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of teachers, parents, children and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILL:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

225 days. Salary to be determined by the Administrative Salary Schedule.
