The Vice President is a member of the Asset Liability Management (‘ALM’) team within Corporate Treasury, focusing on QRM risk framework development projects. The primary responsibilities of the Vice President will be partnering with analytical teams to develop, or reengineer, QRM based analytical processes and reporting.

To fulfil this role, the Vice President will be required to:

  • Work closely with other team members to improve the Quantitative Risk Management (‘QRM’) system that is used to calculate results and to further develop the assumptions framework.
  • Develop, configure, and implement changes or new capabilities in the QRM risk framework to meet functional requirements for the various QRM analytical teams across the ALM department.
  • Design and model stress scenarios, develop assumptions, analyse ALM metrics using QRM application across ALM analytical teams.
  • Enhance the measurement and monitoring of ALM risks, to develop methods to reduce and mitigate such risk.
  • Design and implement ALM reports analysing variances, historical trends, and assumption changes.
  • Enhance workflow with a goal to improve efficiency while reducing operational risk of using the QRM application. Identify efficiencies and develop the control framework.
  • Engage and fulfil requirements for other key stakeholders including International Treasury, Pershing Treasury, Funding Desk and Investment Portfolio group.
  • Have a strong understanding of emerging regulatory ALM requirements to optimize the Company's Corporate Treasury risk framework. Present aspects of the QRM risk framework to regulators, ILR, Internal Audit and other oversight bodies.
  • Lead and coordinate projects with multi-disciplinary teams across Treasury, Risk, Finance, Technology and the business. Support the preparation and implementation of project plans, delivering to deadline.

Qualifications - External

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required with 10 - 12 years of financial or consultative services preferred
  • Degree in math, engineering, statistics, computational finance or economics preferred
  • Graduate degree (MBA), CPA or CFA is preferred
  • High proficiency in written and verbal communications skills
  • SQL and QRM experience Required
  • Strong problem solving and analytical ability
  • Accounting or financial background with knowledge of financial statements and ratios
  • Comfortable dealing with senior management and regulators
  • MS Office proficient with strong excel and power point skills
  • Project management skills
  • Independent working approach
  • Ability to explain complex issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment

Additional skillset includes: analysis of corporate financial statements, business process modelling and understanding of a complex financial institution's operational work flows; keen learner; calm under pressure; strong quantitative and qualitative skills; ability to synthesise large amounts of data and deduce conclusions from data gaps; ability to draw persuasive conclusions in presentations to executive management; strong leadership abilities; works effectively in a co-located team environment; interacts comfortably with staff at all levels; displays a willingness to challenge conventional thinking. Leadership ability will be key in ensuring tasks are completed to deadline.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $215,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
