Shoreline is growing and adding a Primary Therapist for our outpatient program in Long Beach, California! Shoreline Eating Disorder Program provides eating disorder treatment for all genders, ages 13 and older, suffering from a variety of eating disorders. At our facilities, we provide individualized, intensive eating disorder treatment delivered by highly-trained and experienced eating disorder experts, many of whom are recovered themselves. At the core of our program is providing compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based care to clients to help them establish a more peaceful relationship with food, their bodies, and their souls.


JOB SUMMARY:
Primary therapist will assess client needs, develop and implement overall treatment plan, coordinate with in-house treatment team as well as insurance reviews. Primary therapist will conduct individual and family therapy sessions, lead psychotherapy groups including process as well as topic discussion and experiential groups. Will be able to conduct dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy and other psychoeducation groups as needed. Will be responsible for overall case management, family education, and support.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Ensures that professional and compassionate care can be provided
  • Establish rapport, complete psychosocial assessment, treatment plan, and discharge plan
  • Assess client progress and amend treatment plan as necessary
  • Coordinate and execute concurrent insurance reviews, advocating for client to obtain appropriate levels and continuing care as needed
  • Keep track of authorized days and be responsible for timely reviews
  • Follow level-of-care and medical necessity guidelines as established by peer reviewed criteria, including APA and managed care organizations
  • Perform crisis intervention as necessary
  • Develop and create group material as needed
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy, demonstrating knowledge of eating disorders and principal techniques used in group therapy
  • Act as liaison between family and client as appropriate
  • Coordinate and/or perform doctor to doctor reviews between Shoreline and managed care organizations
  • Adhere to all required agency and accreditation standards for documentation

Requirements:

  • Must have a Master’s degree in psychology/counseling
  • Must have a current MFT license or intern registration number with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years direct client care experience
  • Must have experience working with diverse populations
  • Must have experience working as part of a treatment team
  • Must have eating disorder experience and proficiency


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience in individual and group therapy with client with eating disorders
  • Experience and commitment to education and training specifically related to eating disorder treatment
  • Knowledge or and ability to implement crises management procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance review procedures in working with managed care including appeals process
  • Knowledge and understanding of individual therapy, family dynamics and stages of therapy
  • Ability to facilitate compassionate, individualized treatment while enforcing clear and consistent boundaries
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Must display cultural sensitivity as well as cultural competency

Compensation Range

$72,000 – $94,000 (depending on level, licensure, and location)

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against companies of similar size within the behavioral healthcare industry. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
