Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Revenue & Capacity Management, the Pricing Manager analyze rates and/or contracts in accordance with the market value in order to offer our customers through rate proposal, the most competitive quote that will secure payload and provide a margin of benefit to the company. Work and communicate with other members of the company to create an effective team and represent the company’s interest in any function. Presents key business metrics and provides advice to key decision makers and direct team. Ensures compliance with government contracting regulations. May participate in negotiation of contract and subcontract awards. Maintains current knowledge of the competitive pricing environment. Applies extensive technical expertise to develop solutions to complex problems. Is recognized as an expert and leader in their pricing specialty.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Lead pricing strategy for largest and most complex proposals, including capture pricing strategies for all existing contract types. Advise and influence technical staff on pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (HR, Finance, Contracts, Subcontracts, Technical staff, Government Audit and Business Volume Management) as necessary to identify any potential risks with policies and operations as well as to ensure receipt of most recent information for use in pricing/budgeting.
  • Determine financial analysis, labor hour average rates, competitive intelligence gathering, pricing scenarios to advise senior leadership on pricing strategy and profitability and risk scenarios.
  • Understand carrier networks and capacity and apply it to spot and project opportunities as they arise.
  • Research, contact, and develop new carrier relationships to leverage a portfolio of carrier networks to introduce new capacity to customer sales opportunities.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize and be detail oriented. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Effective analytical and negotiating skills relevant to rate proposal.
  • Ability to assess market condition and produce competitive rates.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field a plus.
  • 5+ years of Pricing Manager experience to include at least 2 years of managerial experience.
  • Experience in Transportation, 3PL Billing a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong financial and accounting background supporting multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team, coordinate efforts and collaborate with a variety of individuals as well as develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent organizational skills to establish priorities, work in a team context, and manage multiple activities to meet department, company, and system-wide deadlines.
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
