The PX has direct responsibility for the overall success of the select construction projects, including oversight and mentorship of project teams in the life science division of the company, and for ensuring a high level of employee and customer satisfaction which lead to great financial results.

The PX works closely with other Project Executives and the Operations Leader to ensure each project team is staffed appropriately and partners with the General Superintendent to ensure the successful execution of project, field, and safety objectives for all projects. The PX also partners with the HR, accounting, and operations leaders to ensure systems and processes are integrated across departments. The PX is a member of the Leadership Team and reports directly to the President.

What will you be doing?
Project Execution
  • Negotiate owner contracts and ensure all contracts are within acceptable risk parameters, in collaboration with Project Executives. Ensure all key obligations and requirements are understood and met by project teams and accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with the estimating department and oversee preconstruction activities to ensure projects are set up to meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Lead the monthly job cost review and project success reporting processes and proactively identify and ensure resolution of project issues, for select projects.
  • Initiate high level interface with clients to proactively resolve issues and nurture key relationships within each industry segment.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives taken from client feedback surveys to improve the client experience.
  • Lead project operations and refine project execution models, for select projects, to meet the long term and annual financial goals of the division and company.
  • Drive performance, as measured by Key Performance Indicators, to ensure targeted profit margins are achieved through disciplined adherence to established procedures from project startup through closeout, for select projects.
  • Create new initiatives and refine existing procedures as required for optimal performance and productivity.
  • Ensure we strive to set partners and subcontractors up for success and continue to be the preferred general contractor to work with and to recommend.

Project Acquisition
  • Develop and maintain trust-based relationships with key clients and strategic partners to ensure recurring project opportunities.
  • Maintain active involvement in industry-based trade organizations to broaden networking opportunities and expand key relationships throughout targeted market segments.
  • Actively participate in project acquisition and business development strategies to help achieve planned growth goals.
  • Contribute to the go/no go decisions to ensure we stay focused on the right clients and the right projects.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager (BDM) in effectively identifying key opportunities, meeting preliminary budgeting objectives, and running effective capture plan meetings for new project opportunities.
  • Guide project team members through interview prep and presentations.
  • Optimize our capture rate on RFP responses and interviews. Coordinate with the BDM to innovate and continually improve our interview approach and process.

Executive Leadership
  • Mentor and coach project team members to ensure a deep bench of current and future leaders and high performers.
• Collaborate with other project executives in determining adequate staffing qualifications and experience for each project. • Collaborate with HR and Operations leaders in developing and delivering technical training programs.
  • Develop select content for the ongoing learning and development of all project team members.
  • Bring new ideas to promote and prioritize continued growth and strategic growth initiatives for the company.

Desired Traits

  • 15+ years of experience in commercial general contracting
  • 10+ years as a Project Manager and/or Project Executive for a commercial general contractor
  • Experience managing life science construction projects over $10M in contract value as a Project Executive and/or a Sr. Project Manager is required
  • Experience leading multiple Project Managers strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead pre-construction team from conceptual estimating through project delivery
  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or business strongly preferred
  • Growth mindset and strong desire to coach and mentor others
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies

The starting base pay for this position has a salary range of $180,000.00 to $240,00.00.* The actual salary offer will be carefully considered based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for health, disability, life, dental, vision along with retirement and profit sharing plans.   • Please note that the full base pay range for incumbent employees in this position can be expected to fall between $180,000 and $240,000. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay overtime based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
