Civil Service Title: Social Service Counselor 5-B (Prevention Supervisor)

We’re currently seeking a professional with a passion for educating the community on risk and protective factors related to substance use and other risky behaviors to lead the Prevention Case Management and Adult Problem Gambling Treatment programs. Prevention programs provide psychoeducational services (e.g. in a school-based setting on topics such as bullying, communication skills, alcohol and tobacco education) to raise awareness and mitigate negative risk factors in individuals’ lives putting them at risk of developing substance abuse/use disorders/addiction disorders. This work takes place in the community. The prevention supervisor is a non-clinical role that acts as a contract monitor and supervises two internal staff members in the delivery of social services treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct-line supervision of treatment staff through supervisory conferences, staff meetings, on-the-job training, case reviews, and review of completed work assignments
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure model compliant delivery of services
  • Develop program goals and objectives
  • Ensure program outcomes are met consistently and that the necessary services are provided to meet the needs of the service recipients
  • Obtain the Prevention Specialist in Training (PSIT) credential from the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority (ADRA) and secure either the Registered Prevention Professional (RPP) or Licensed Prevention Profession (LPP) credential
  • May provide direct services

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional social services experience
  • No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy
  • High ethical standards and personal integrity
  • Proven track record as an effective and organized team leader
  • Commitment to improving behavioral outcomes by supporting best practices
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to communicate and interact pleasantly and effectively at different levels with different audiences
  • Ability to work in a culturally competent way and consistently treat all with dignity and respect
  • Time management with organizational skills required to set priorities and manage workload
