BCA Preschool Director:
Serving Infants 6 weeks – Pre-K4
Professional educator tasked with the responsibility of managing Brown Christian Academy

Job Responsibilities:
Adapting daily routines to meet the interest and needs of the individual child and the group
Developing activities that promote literacy and math concepts
Ensuring that the facility and all equipment is clean, well-maintained, and safe
Establishing policies and procedures, including disciplinary policies
Maintaining and scheduling weekly and monthly activities
Participating in on-going in-service and education development opportunities, and participating in the ongoing development and evaluation of the program’s goals and objectives
Planning and implementing activities that meet the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of BCA students
Providing a classroom environment that encourages parent participation
Providing adequate equipment and activities

Job Requirements:
Ensuring that all children are supervised at all times
Establishing routines
Building children’s self-esteem through positive guidance and nurturing
Communicating with parents and discussing their children’s development
Implementing positive discipline
Observing children and making notes of progress and development
Promoting literacy and early education
Providing a safe and secure environment where children feel comfortable
Providing age-appropriate experiences and activities for children, including storytelling, games, and songs
Integrating special needs children in a positive and respectful manner
Record of three or more years of successful teaching experience working in an early childhood educational setting and/or family service setting
Record of successful experience working with infants/toddlers/preschoolers and their families
Record of experience with diverse populations
Evidence of strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication
Experience in reviewing assigned teacher lesson plans and formal observations
Participate in problem-solving and remain flexible in seeking solutions as needed with assigned teacher candidates
BSE/BA in early childhood education or relevant field
Having strong collaboration and communication skills
Ability to contribute to a positive work environment

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit on the floor depending on the age of the children. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently push or lift up to 50 lbs. 0 - 12 feet and on occasion up to 20 feet, such as books and supplies or student equipment and wheelchairs. Frequently the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person, may need to lift arms to write on chalk or marking board and frequently stoop, kneel, crouch and reach 0 - 24 inches and up to 36 inches above the head. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of other people. Frequently lifting children is also required for this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
