Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Forage Management

The Forage Management and Systems Team in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in forage management and quality. The primary goal is to study organic forage mixtures and intercropping systems for increased economic viability in the Southeast U.S.

The position is available in June, and the screening of the applications will begin immediately and will continue until a suitable candidate is selected. Candidates who are in the process of obtaining the degree will also be considered, but degree must be conferred before the position begins with an official transcript provided for verification.


Qualifications

The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Animal Science, or a closely related field. Applicants should possess excellent academic performance record, and strong oral and written communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in one or more of the following: design of field and laboratory experiments, forage yield and quality measurements and analyses, proficiency in analytical instruments, strong statistical skills and grantsmanship. Demonstrated record of high-quality publications and communication skills are also very important criteria for selection. This position will be located in Knoxville, TN, and requires occasional travel to the Middle TN Research and Education Center in Spring Hill.

Support

This is a grant-funded position and contingency is dependent upon funding and satisfactory performance. Salary and benefits are competitive.
