Job Function:

The AASK Post Adopt Supervisor represents Catholic Charities North Dakota in the AASK program, upholds the Agency’s goals, philosophy/mission statement and according to AASK policy in a professional and ethical manner. This position provides supervision to the post adopt coordinators.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision to Post Adopt Workers in assigned regions, including a minimum monthly supervision meeting in accordance with agency and program standards.
  • Assist AASK Director in the hiring, training and performance evaluation of AASK staff.
  • Maintain an awareness of issues related to adoption disruption and dissolution. Monitor research as it relates to best practices in all areas of post adoption and guardianship.
  • Maintain the data base related to finalized special needs adoptions, other adoptions, and guardianship services.
  • Participate in scheduled post adopt, AASK, and other agency meetings (prioritize and discuss with program supervisor).
  • Provide ongoing post adopt and guardianship needs in North Dakota.
  • Attend meetings or events (such as support groups, monthly events, camps, etc.) that occur during the evening or weekends that are required.
  • Make recommendations, offer advocacy, and referral services for the child and family pre and post permanency.
  • Assist and facilitate in ongoing training and development of support services for guardianship, adoptive and birth families, and adoptees.
  • Provide information/referral, advocacy, or specialized training for any guardianship or adoptive family unit pre and post finalization.
  • Remain culturally knowledgeable to fulfill the needs of clients.
  • Participate in the AASK quality improvement activities.
  • Participate actively in the Agency Performance Quality Improvement Process.
  • Conduct job duties from a framework that acknowledges the impact of childhood trauma on children, caregivers and service providers, and integrate trauma informed care principles into practice.
  • Utilize and advocate for the use of trauma-sensitive strategies to support the youth and their family.
  • Network with collaborative agencies across the state about post adoption and guardianship needs and provision of services.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, community agencies, organizations and associations.
  • Partner with statewide foster and adopt coalition groups.
  • Other duties as apparent or assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, MSW preferred
  • Social Work license in the State of North Dakota
  • Experience with families in the human service field, child welfare system, and adoption
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
