POSITION SUMMARY

The Tucson Plant Manager reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing and works closely with other functional leaders in the company, including those in operations, finance, sales, and marketing. The Plant Manager is responsible for the Production, Material Management, Maintenance, Warehouse, & Logistics Departments in the Tucson Facility.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Systems GMP’S (Good Manufacturing Practices), MRP, MTM, New Product Introduction Process, Re-Engineering Processes, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Cost Reduction, Project Management, ISO/QS, Environmental and Safety Standards, etc.
  • Requires Leadership, Negotiation and Team Building Skills

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Sound, systematic problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel (chart, pivot tables), PowerPoint, database management and statistical analysis

Level of Experience:

  • At Least 10 years in the Management of Production Processes and Personnel with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical Products Manufacturing preferred.

Level of Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering, supply chain, manufacturing or related field

Travel:

  • <10%


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that must be performed on the job.

  • Directs and coordinates all Production, Material Management, Maintenance, Warehouse, & Logistics in the Tucson facility
  • Develops strategic planning for direction and control of manufacturing implementation and improvement activities
  • Provides technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, for all manufacturing implementation and improvements
  • Hires and directs staff of managers to acquire necessary resources and plan to meet scheduled commitments
  • Ensures implementation of formal processes to support the Westmed Inc. manufacturing processes
  • Coordinates with other managers and associates to identify critical success factors, develop measurement systems, and implement continuous process improvement methodologies
  • Works with Director of RA/QA to implement comprehensive quality assurance programs
  • Reviews and evaluates services to correct deficiencies and formulate improvements
  • Assures on-time delivery of new projects; ensures product quality, performance, and conformity with company established specifications
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs, services, and projects; monitors progress and evaluates results; recommends changes or other actions as appropriate
  • Reviews, analyzes, and implements technological changes to enhance performance and customer requirements.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and motivates, production staff and manages schedules and workflow
  • Coordinates with Director of RA/QA for outside Inspection of the Production and Quality System: FDA and Notified Body auditors
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions
  • Manages directly and/or through subordinate supervisors the activities of the Warehouse and Shipping Departments to assure maximum efficiency in logistics and on-time delivery to customers
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance
  • Develops and conducts staff training
  • Conducts performance/merit reviews
  • Coordinates priorities with associated managers
  • Maintains and manages departments’ budgets
