The Planner II contributes to the success of Sur La Table by maximizing sales and margin for specific product categories through strategic inventory management. This position interfaces closely with the Merchandising team and is responsible for actively responding to current business trends and executing future business directions. This position requires constant exercise of discretion in prioritization of work and reports to the Planning Manager.

This role can be performed from the US or Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Merchandising to develop and execute department, classification and vendor plans for specific product categories that meet or exceed overall financial goals including sales, margin and inventory turn.
  • Manage inventory investments to maximize productivity and in-store fulfillment including initial buys, liquidation tactics, reorders and allocation strategies.
  • Review and forecast weekly/monthly current trends and recommend appropriate actions to maximize financial results while managing the inventory plan.
  • Develop inventory flow and allocation strategies that support ongoing basic replenishment and seasonal assortment needs.
  • Work with key interfaces in the Supply Chain and Stores organizations to identify and act on opportunities.
  • Proactively identify issues and opportunities, proposing solutions and communicating a unified direction.
  • Prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Use experience and discretion to analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years' retail planning experience, preferably in a multi-channel retail or merchandise driven business
  • 1+ experience driving a business through merchandise financial planning and inventory management
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the merchandise planning field
  • MS Office Suite proficiency
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ability to regularly communicate verbally and in writing and work cooperatively with employees and customers.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to learn technical material.
  • Ability to use computer and other office equipment to accomplish work tasks.
  • Ability to think critically and communicate complex thoughts and/or ideas in clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
