Blythe Development, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is a licensed general contractor specializing in site work, road construction and golf course construction in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia since 1989. Blythe Development's operations include clearing, grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, waterline, curb and gutter, sidewalk, concrete paving, retaining walls, culverts, bridges, stone base and asphalt paving. Blythe Brothers Asphalt Company provides the asphalt services for Blythe Development Co. Our large, experienced workforce enables Blythe Development to self-perform 80% of site groundwork, which gives them greater control than competitors who must subcontract the bulk of the job. Both Blythe Development and Blythe Brothers Asphalt are owned and operated by the Blythe brothers who collectively have over 80 years’ experience in site work construction.

PIPE LAYER

• Lay pipe for storm or sanitary sewer, drains, and water mains
• Configure pipe routes -Align pipes in pipeline sections -Sets laser at the proper grade for task at hand
• Makes sure pipe is installed at the proper grade
• Assist heavy equipment operator in proper depth for the pipe being installed
• Ensures pipes are fitted and aligned properly to insure there will be no leaks
• Makes sure pipe is backfilled and chalked in properly
• Ensures that the trench has all the proper safety equipment in place per OSHA regulations

OPERATOR

Including, but not limited to, loaders, track hoes, excavators, etc.

• Maintain, clean, and secure all equipment
• Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner

LABORER - Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred

• Operate a variety of hand and power tools
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble, debris and remove waste materials - Maintain a clean and secure job site (pick up tools/equipment) to eliminate potential hazards
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and bring any problems to the attention of a supervisor

Physical Demands

• Regularly works near moving machinery/tools which requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, must be able to move quickly and have excellent stamina.
• Must be able to push, pull, or carry objects (over 50 lbs.), use legs, hips, shoulders, abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time and climb ladders
