NEEDED: PHYSICIANS – PRIMARY CARE or INTERNAL MEDICINE

Shall furnish all personnel to provide services necessary to perform onsite Primary Care Physician Services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Atlanta, Georgia.

STATUS: Full-Time or PRN

HOURS: 80 hours every two weeks, does not include holidays

• Duty hours shall be as set forth by the Chiefs of the Primary Care Service Line.
• For Primary Care services, the Contractor will be present at the Atlanta VA Health Care System or its surrounding Community Based Outpatient Clinic for a period of eight (8) hours (excluding lunch) during the 7:00am through 4:30pm timeframe (tour will be established at the discretion of the Chief of Primary Care Service Line on five (5) days per week.
• The 30-minute lunch period will not be compensated.
• Workload may require additional time for completion.
• Physician will be required to sign an attendance log upon reporting to and departing from work.

LOCATIONS: provided on site at VAMC and at Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and the Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, Georgia 30033. Noting that a need at the most rural CBOCs will be needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• US CITIZEN
• License – Shall have a current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
• Physician (s) who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered.
• Board Certification - Physician(s) shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible per the American Board of Primary Care (http://www.theabr.org/) or the American Board of Internal medicine (ABIM) .
• Technical Proficiency - Physician(s) shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
• Continuing Medical Education (CME)/ Certified Education Unit (CEU) Requirements: Physician (s) registered or certified by national/medical associations shall continue to meet the minimum standards for CME to remain current.
• Shall have or obtain appropriate NPI
• Shall provide a copy of current DEA Certification

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Physician shall be responsible for providing coverage to the VA during periods of scheduling vacancies, personal leave, vacations and additional coverage as required. A schedule will be provided seven (7) calendar days in advance regarding weekly openings for the placement of Physicians.
• Physician (s)’ care shall cover the range of Primary Care and Hospital Medicine Services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards
