Orthopedic NP/PA

Position Description: Oswego Health is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with a current RNFA certification to join our Center for Orthopedic Care. This APP will assist in medical and surgical care of Orthopedic department patients in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Orthopedic general support would include joint replacement, hand/foot/ankle, sports medicine and pain management. A hybrid-week of both outpatient care and time in the OR would include:

• Collaborate with physicians in a well-established outpatient orthopedic practice to assess, diagnose, and develop a plan of care in accordance with practice protocols
• Make appropriate referral for consultations when needed
• Communicate with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment
• Daily rounding and complete care and management of the surgical inpatient census by participating in multidisciplinary rounds and communication of treatment plans with orthopedic physician, nursing staff, and families
• Function as first or second assistant in operating room procedures
• Provide pre-and post-operative patient education to patients and their families
• Manage discharge of patients with appropriate disposition, follow-up planning, adjunctive therapy management and education

The candidate will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and will work collaboratively with our Orthopedic physicians in providing outpatient clinical and surgical inpatient care. This full-time position is ideal for a PA or NP who is looking to gain experience in an outpatient Orthopedic clinic setting, as well as an inpatient surgical setting. Prior experience is not required as Oswego Health welcomes new grads, however is preferred for this role.
