Job description

The Physician - Addiction Services functions as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver alcohol and drug treatment services, including prescribing medications for the management of opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders. The provider evaluates, diagnoses, and treats substance use disorders and related behavioral, emotional, and physical disorders. This position is majority clinical work, however may include some administrative responsibilities including the orientation and supervision of medical staff and residents, including collaboration with advanced practice providers (as applicable). The role includes participation in a rotational on-call system and cross-coverage, pending program needs. The physician will also participate in chart reviews, multidisciplinary case discussions, and quality improvement processes, as applicable.

Minimum Level of Education Required: Graduate from an accredited residency training program from a related field (i.e. Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, etc.)

Additional requirements:

  • Type of degree: MD, DO or other related field
  • Area of study or major:
  • Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Psychiatry. Physicians who have completed an accredited training program in another field will be considered if they have relevant clinical practice experience.
  • Preferred educational qualifications:
  • Successful completion of an Addiction Medicine fellowship, or 2+ years of clinical practice in an addiction medicine practice setting

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board
  • Possess and Maintain Suboxone license and certification status DATA X Waiver
  • BLS Certified

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1-3 years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience:

  • Training and experience working with the chemically dependent and dually diagnosed population.
  • Training and experience in treating substance use disorders using the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

Prior specific functional responsibilities:

  • Experience supervising residents and Nurse Practitioners

Preferred experience:

  • Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in the management of SUDs or will have completed a fellowship in addiction medicine.
  • Board certified in addiction medicine preferred.
