The Physical Security Specialist provides subject matter expertise related to electronic security systems. PSS manages the work of outside contractors to make sure all work meets requirements and applicable codes. PSS reviews and approves contractor invoices. May assist other departments with wiring or installations within the scope of electronics and communications.

You will:

  • Assist with the procurement, installation, and maintenance of access control system and video management system, as well as the integration of other safety and security subsystems, i.e. intrusion detection.

  • Design, install and/or oversee the work of contractors who install wiring in college-wide new construction and remodel projects relating to systems. Reviews plans for all access control, intrusion video surveillance and life safety alarm work related to new construction to ensure certain work meets Church/CCA requirements.

  • Be responsible for scheduled maintenance, cleaning and minor repairs or adjustments to electronic devices, including but not limited to access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection devices. Keeps equipment updated and operational, meeting required local, state, federal and ADA requirements.

  • Be the primary point of contact for service requests on all systems associated with the Security Department. Responds to phone, email, voice mail, verbal and written work orders. Issue and track work orders and work closely with vendors to assure timely resolution of service issues.

  • Support security systems integration, mapping and software updates and helps train other public safety personnel in the use of these systems.

  • Assist on new projects in both existing areas and new construction helping with security assessments, vendor selection, technology upgrades, product selections, testing, field verification of systems and inspection of work in progress for compliance with standards.

  • Attend project meetings pertaining to security integration. Attends regular staff meetings of the Facilities Management Services maintenance staff and participates in problem solving and discussions of system and project related issues.

  • Make recommendations for security equipment and systems.

  • Organize and manage parts stock and tools.

  • Oversee issuing, assigning access rights for access control cards or key fobs and decommissioning of access control cards.

  • Coordinate low voltage electrical work of contractors related to repair, renovation and maintenance activities of systems, including, intrusion detection systems and equipment, video surveillance systems and equipment and access control systems and equipment.

  • Develop budgets for project work and provide project coordination ensuring budgets are met. Obtains quotes for repair and/or installation of systems in all campuses. Defines options and estimates costs, sets priorities and schedules for construction activities.

  • Research methods, systems or materials for purchase of systems.

  • Instruct employees in the use of systems. Establish and coordinate alarm codes and keep a record of those having access to such codes.

  • Maintain inventory of essential parts and equipment to ensure repairs and installation in a timely manner.

  • Respond to Church/CCA emergencies and closures including adverse weather to secure buildings, furnishings and fixtures to prevent damage or operational problems.

  • Be responsible to know and understand all safety procedures of the Church/CCA. Observe the work of contractors and bring safety concerns to their attention as needed. Report all unsafe acts and conditions which remain uncorrected to the supervisor. Allow no work to be performed when conditions are considered unsafe.

  • Maintain appropriate records as required.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to applicable local, state, and federal law regulations.

  • Adhere to departmental processes and policies.

You have:

  • Basic project management best practices;

  • Knowledge of security systems to include, service and maintenance across a broad spectrum of access control, intrusion and video surveillance systems such as, Spectrum IPUMS, Freedom and Ademco

  • Working knowledge of low voltage systems;

  • Working knowledge of network principles.

  • Skills in:

  • Operating a computer and various software packages;

  • Problem identification and problem solving;

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • This is a full-time (40+ hours/week) exempt position.

  • You may have to work evenings and/or weekends to assist with special events or emergencies.

Work Schedule:
Staff culture is important to what we do. To love like family, we require all staff to attend all staff meetings, department meetings and serve with a willing heart especially at all major campus events. Full time (40+ hours/week) sometimes nights and weekends.
