The Meadows Psychiatric Center located is Centre Hall, PA is hiring a Phlebotomist/Mental Health Technicians full-time hybrid position, working four 10-hour days; 5am-7am as Phlebotomist and 7am-3:30pm as MHT. This position requires an every-other weekend rotation. Applicants must have current and active Phlebotomy Certification.

Full time positions are eligible for our $2,500 Sign on bonus.

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital providing life-saving, life-changing, and life-sustaining to services children, adolescents, and adults.

How will you make a difference at The Meadows?

The Phlebotomist position reports to the Infection Control Nurse and functions as part of the nursing team and is responsible for the collection of blood specimens, processing related to each specimen, and logging specimens in accordance with all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. Phlebotomists are responsible for reporting of any/all issues with specimen collections and maintaining of accurate, current lab documentation. Phlebotomists are also responsible for the administration of new employee TB/PPD draws during orientation sessions and any applicable follow up and documentation.

Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) are direct patient care providers that deliver nursing care to patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral, and mental health diagnoses, ensuring their safety and continued care. MHTS are responsible for positive role modeling, crisis intervention, facilitation of group activities and patient safety. Basic care activities such as taking patient vitals are also part of MHT responsibilities. MHTs work within the nursing department under the direction of an RN Charge Nurse and Unit Nurse Manager.

All newly hired employees will participate in our paid classroom and on the job training orientation activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma with patient care experience is required. Post-secondary training or education in related field with experience preferred.
  • One-year phlebotomy experience and certification as a Phlebotomist preferred. If not certified, must be willing to obtain certification within one year.
  • Position also requires excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile.
