We have Multiple Openings for Full-time and Part-time Pharmacy Technicians for inpatient and outpatient.

About the Role

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team at Bronson Healthcare Group! This individual should be skilled in mathematics and basic algebra, interpreting and analyzing data, and verbal and written communication.

The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in filling prescriptions and preparing IV admixtures by interpreting, transcribing, and preparing medication(s) for dispensing. Fills orders with appropriate medications for review and approval by a Registered Pharmacist. Performs a variety of related technical, clerical and supply duties. The duties may vary somewhat depending on location of work(i.e. outpatient retail pharmacy, inpatient hospital pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, etc) or shift assignment. The technician will be responsible for competency in the core areas of depending on location worked as outlined in the additional job description below. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Pharmacy Technician I:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • 3-6 months of experience and/or training in hospital, retail pharmacy or elsewhere - OR - equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • If not previously trained, a 3-month formal training in pharmacy procedures is preferred.
  • Temporary or permanent Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required upon hire with permanent Michigan Pharmacy Tech licensure required within one year from issuance of temporary license. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required by the State of Michigan to transition from temporary to permanent licensure. Failure to obtain permanent licensure in required timeframe would end employment.
  • Students currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with a valid pharmacy intern license are not required to have Pharmacy Technician Certification.

Pharmacy Technician II:

The Pharmacy Technician II is a role that builds upon the skills and competencies of the Pharmacy Technician I as part of a professional career pathway.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

2-5 years of relevant pharmacy experience in a hospital, retail pharmacy or elsewhere, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Permanent Pharmacy Technician license in good standing with State of Michigan is required.

Pharmacy Technician III:

The Pharmacy Technician III is a role that builds upon the skills and competencies of the Pharmacy Technician I and Pharmacy Technician II as part of a professional career pathway.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Permanent Pharmacy Technician license in good standing with State of Michigan 5 or more years of relevant pharmacy experience in a hospital, retail pharmacy, or elsewhere, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional criteria to be considered includes active professional organization involvement; mentoring, leadership, or ownership roles on projects/activities within the department or organization.
