Job description
The purpose of the class to perform routine clerical and administrative work in scheduling building inspections; answer, return and forward incoming calls; process business license request and approvals; assist customers in applying and the issuance of permits, generate invoices for refunds, re-inspections and renewals; maintain records, providing courteous and professional customer service at all times; and perform related duties as assigned. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under regular supervision.
Requires completion of high school degree/GED and one year of of experience, or requires Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in office management, secretarial science, business administration or a closely related field. Floodplain Manager Certification and Notary Public Certification are preferred. Requires a valid state driver’s license.
Shall meet special certifications requirement for Permit Technician Certification by ICC, International Code Council within 24 months of start date. Failure to do so shall result in termination or demotion at the discretion of the Director.
