Title: Performance Prep/Cook

Department: Sports Medicine

Reports to: Head Performance Chef

Status: Part-Time; Hourly

Location: San Francisco, CA & Scottsdale, AZ (Spring Training)


Position Summary:

The Prep/Cook is responsible for the proper preparation, set up and execution of meals in the kitchen and is committed to sustainability, proper health and safety.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of meals and accurately follows recipes.
  • Follow proper food handling techniques and coordinates the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense.
  • Maintain the organization and proper storage of pantry, cold, and leftover food.
  • Ensure that food is properly labeled, logged and discarded at the end of the "use by" date.
  • Ensure that equipment, utensils, dishes and work space are neat, clean and sanitized.
  • In charge of completing tasks set forth by Head Chef.
  • Must have strong knowledge of protein butchery.
  • Maintain safe practices when preparing and storing food products.
  • Keep a professional relationship with staff and players.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-year experience working in a restaurant kitchen or in the catering business.
  • Working towards or is a recent graduate of a culinary institute. Nutrition Certification a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in culinary terms, possess strong knife skills and safe food handling.
  • Understands and complies with food safety and temperature standards.
  • Food handler's card may be required according to local and state law.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours and remain flexible regarding work schedule.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion and diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25+ lbs.
