Manage office payroll staff on a day to day basis and provide technical knowledge & support to entire organization related to state and local tax compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the controller with sales taxes and other operational taxes as required
  • Manage the Office Payroll accounting group
  • Review and revise procedures to ensure adherence to local, state, federal and other applicable foreign tax laws
  • Oversee the setup and maintenance of pay and deduction codes
  • Verify accuracy of payroll and deductions for approximately 600 office employees
  • Develop & maintain relationship with payroll processing vendor
  • Supervise and review filings of certain payroll returns outside the scope of Favorite’s payroll processing vendor
  • Coordinate registration in new employment tax localities
  • Research and find solutions to payroll tax irregularities by gathering and analyzing data and performing modifications
  • Ensure the organization’s compliance with payroll tax reporting and withholding responsibilities
  • Spear head system improvements to rectify new or existing instances of noncompliance
  • Respond to payroll tax inquiries (Internal and external)

Experience and/or Qualifications

  • 3+ years of practical experience in payroll with a fairly large multi-state and multi-jurisdiction company
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Human Resources
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll tax and the statutory environment, which will include local, federal and multi state tax regulations
  • Superlative ability to read, comprehend and make analysis of intricate regulatory payroll tax information
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners
  • Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information
  • Excellent business judgement, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word and experience with Workday a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
