Position Overview

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the administration of payroll functions in the Corporate Payroll Department. This includes verifying time entry, garnishment processing and processing additional payroll information in a timely manner. This position will also be responsible for any auditing and maintenance to ensure payroll accuracy.

CJ Logistics loves collaboration and a team environment. Therefore, this role is located at our Corporate Office in Des Plaines, IL and has a hybrid work arrangement (3 days on site and 2 days remote). Candidates must live within a commutable distance to the corporate office.

Position Responsibilities

• Contribute to the payroll process for multiple pay groups in the UKG system (Ultimate Kronos Group)
• Input payroll adjustments in the HRIS module and the Time Clock module (UTA) These would include time card adjustments, salary allocations, vacation payout calculations for terminations, pending pay items, etc.
• Monitor error messages from our Blue Yonder / Red Prairie data integration into UTA, investigate the cause of the errors, and initiate the re-import of the corrected data
• Support requests sent to the Payroll Mailbox for ‘rush’ checks, time clock corrections, and other questions and inquiries regarding taxes and employee payments
• Assist with requests from the Finance Group or Field Finance Group for GL related data
• Review system audit reports and work to correct any incorrect findings
• Participate in payroll team meetings to deepen payroll knowledge
• Professionally manage communications with employees from the point of initial communication through resolution
• Support requests for information related to the data in the GL files
• Assist in coordinating payroll data requests for work comp audits, legal team requests, tax agency changes, or other similar projects
• Performs other duties as assigned, duties, responsibilities and activities may change over the course of time with or without notice

Job Qualifications

• 3+ years in-house/full service payroll experience.
• 3+ years’ experience working with an enterprise HR / Payroll System: Ultimate Payroll (UKG) experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail – achieves thoroughness and accuracy through a focus on all areas assigned
• Knowledge and understanding of HRIS and Payroll functional areas
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer experience a must
• Excel spreadsheet knowledge a must
• Knowledge and understanding of HRIS and Payroll functional areas
• Able to handle multiple tasks at once
• Able to work overtime when needed
