The Payroll Manager Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, direct deposit, and 401K deductions
  • Poll electronic timecards and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy
  • Contact various department supervisors for any missed items
  • Process weekly transfer of payroll data into Payroll Software System
  • Complete internal management reports from payroll system software
  • Work with Human Resources to efficiently train staff to utilize HR/Payroll software
  • Monitor quarterly and annual filing requirements
  • Track wage requirements contracts in all States

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and field environments. We operate 24/7/365, inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, and stand. Occasional lifting to 25 lbs. may occur.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full Time – 40 hours per week. This position is based remotely The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends is required based on contract needs.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; major in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance is desired
  • 5+ years’ experience performing payroll functions is required and must include:
  • Experience with federal government contracts or subcontracts
  • Demonstrated experience with payroll software
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including experience with Excel, is required

Work Authorization

  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS).
  • Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check after accepting a conditional offer of employment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
