Location: Beachwood, OH (Hybrid)

Terms: FTE/Permanent

3 days in the office and 2 days working remote.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or 5+ years in payroll tax compliance.
  • 3+ years working across multiple state jurisdictions.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the geographic area will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of payroll systems & outsource providers.

Summary of the Role:

The Manager of Payroll Compliance plays an integral role in identifying and mitigating risk in payroll processing across the Enterprise. This position oversees the execution of our payroll and employment tax compliance by managing our employment tax outsource provider and supervising our employment tax resources. This position requires competence with regard to payroll law to assure the timely, valid, accurate issuance of withholdings in accordance with State, Federal, and local law. The Payroll Compliance Manager is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all internal, external, federal, state and local audits by providing auditors with everything they need to complete the audit and answering any questions that they may have. This position oversees the work of three individuals who work on payroll compliance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Employ analytical, creative thinking, and superior communication skills to identify significant, unusual, and emerging risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation across our payroll organization.
  • Responsible for the overall compliance of the company with all federal, state, and local employee and employer withholdings across 50 states and 300+ local jurisdictions.
  • Assumes decision making responsibility for all areas of payroll compliance and elevate appropriate issues to leader and executive management as appropriate.
  • Works with the IRS, State and Local agencies to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance in employment tax areas.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, and management for the payroll compliance team and contribute to the overall management of Payroll processes as part of the leadership team.
  • Manages the vendor relationship for our outsource provider for employment taxes ensuring vendor meets SLAs and ensuring our employment tax documents are filed timely and accurately.
  • Documenting new or changing Payroll Tax operation workflows and work procedures.
  • Preparing analysis and communicating current impacts of teleworking across 50 states
  • Understanding and ensuring accurate taxable gross definition setups for new and existing Payroll Taxes
  • Leading efforts for ensuring we are in balance with our outsource provider and our GL for all employer related employment taxes.
  • Leveraging tax statutes and IRS regulations to research Payroll Tax operational/industry best practices with regards to multi-state taxation
  • Supporting legal and tax compliance and be the SME and point of contact for requests from Corporate Legal, Finance, and Tax departments.
  • Maintain schedules for keeping W-4 and various state tax form requirements current.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $145,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
