Job Description


This position is for a professional interested in our strong entrepreneurial nature and the energy of a startup, with a robust team culture. RockCreek is expanding its human capital management team, and this position includes a path for advancement and growth, including an expanding of the role, with additional training provided.

  • Monitor the payment process of all team members; Review payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of multi jurisdiction payroll, including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions for full time, part time team members and interns
  • Managing payroll discrepancies and releasing payroll through the firm’s payroll provider
  • Responsible for reviewing partner distributions and ensuring payment according to schedule
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll is processed on time, accurately and in compliance with all applicable rules by reviewing payroll by working with third party software and vendors
  • Ensure accurate and timely onboarding and processing of payroll updates including new hires and departures, and changes to pay rates
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Corporate monthly closing and reconciliation;
  • Corporate tax compliance ’
  • Oversee a variety of human capital matters, including responding to team members questions regarding payments
  • Active engagement with vendors, including benefit providers and proactive recommendation options
  • Oversee payroll processing for multi-state employees and develop payroll best practices, guidelines and procedures
  • Support accounting for all payroll related journal entries during month end close
  • Review annual W2 reconciliation and manage distribution

Qualifications
  • Experience overseeing multi state payroll and experience in related HR matters
  • Experience with payroll software and related systems and technology
  • Understanding of various employment and payroll laws, and tax related compliance
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to draft applicable process notes for management team and auditors
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Bachelor's degree required, accounting/business preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
