Summary

The Payroll Analyst is a role that combines technical expertise, project management and employee relations all in one.

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for Compliance and Reporting. While ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and reconciliation of payroll accounts. Independently researching and resolving payroll issues. Suggesting and implementing corrective action regarding process inconsistencies.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for people, payroll, project management and problem solving. This role requires a self-motivated professional that consistently brings a high level of dedication to projects and teammates along with the ability to strategically and tactically navigate the unique challenges that innovation brings.

Duties

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Process US and/or Canadian Payroll as needed
  • Audit individual employee pay records and reconcile totals by department, location, country, etc.
  • Reconcile employee deductions and employer costs to third party payments
  • Understand all aspects of a pay cycle to optimally assist with testing end-to-end functionality
  • Identifies and implements system improvement opportunities
  • Partner with various groups to ensure cross-functional needs are met
  • Serve as backup for other payroll team members
  • Prepare documentation and train employees as needed
  • Assist payroll leadership team with special projects as assigned
  • Verifies compliance with various statutory payroll requirements
  • Assist with external audits as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with payroll, accounting, finance, or tax
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, HR, or other related field (or 10+ years of proven experience in lieu of degree)
  • Certified Payroll experience.
  • Experience working with unions.


Other Qualifications

  • Experience processing payroll in medium size or larger organization
  • International payroll processing experience a plus
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Demonstrates initiative flexibility and follow through
  • Attention to details and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well within tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Prior experience with Workday, SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, or other ERP
This is an in office/on site position. Remote is not offered at this time.
