Position: Payroll Analyst

Location: Remote

Hyperion Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Finance and HR teams to direct the payroll function across all operating companies and answer questions at the individual and business unit levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct payroll function, ensuring items are processed timely and in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Act as point of contact for employees regarding questing related to payroll
  • Establish and communicate standard operating processes and procedures for payroll.
  • Provide support, training, and coaching for team members on systems and tools.
  • Ensure that Payroll records management is handled timely and in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Work with the HR team and business leaders to maximize the company’s HRIS data management and reporting capabilities.
  • Assist with processes for updating and maintaining accurate human resources records, including payroll and benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR team on the compilation, distribution, and/or exchange of benefit data files such as 401k and insurance; review and authorize corresponding payroll deductions.
  • Interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures and direct preparation of government reports.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of HRIS and Payroll teams.
  • Support the testing of system, conversion of data onto HRIS, and implementation of new system and interfaces with other systems and locations.
  • Support the training of department and organizational staff on system access and utilization.
  • Maintain systems to ensure efficient operations, processing, and report generation.
  • Maximize utility of the HRIS by consulting with human resources executive and other management to ascertain organizational needs for human resources-related information.
  • Prepare Off-cycle payrolls and manual checks as necessary.
  • Process wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner.
  • Assist with accurate intercompany invoicing, reconciliation and journal entries as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in Human Resources Technology, Accounting or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of payroll and/or HRIS experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with an automated payroll system, Paychex and Paylocity preferred.
  • Current knowledge of federal/state/local payroll tax laws.
  • Experience with a multi-state organization strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required; proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong Excel Skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
