Summary/Objective

The Payroll Administrator will process weekly payroll and provide support to both the Finance and HR functions. This position assists HR with the payroll aspects of employee benefits, enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing and maintains the employee database, and files.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enter maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system (Paylocity); information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions, and withholding, address changes, and other information.
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Record and process federal and multi-state payroll tax deposits.
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in the payroll system for payroll deduction. Become a benefits enrollment resource for employees enrolling in the Company benefit programs.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to provide support for various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Assist Management in obtaining payroll statistics and information in the renewal process of any health, life, and retirement plans that benefit the company.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure distribution of required employee notices.
  • Collaborate with HR to prepare and maintain weekly employee reports, new-hire and absentee reports, and other requested reports as needed.
  • ·Assist Management in completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Prepare period-end payroll journal entries as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Extensive knowledge of payroll, employee benefits, and applicable laws.

· Proficient with third-party Payroll Processing Systems – Preferably Paylocity

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Supervisory Responsibility

None is required for this position.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least six months of experience in an automated payroll system preferred.

Required Language Skills

Write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups. Ability to speak, read and write English required.

Required Math Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Proficient in MS Office, Internet, and Windows
