Job Flexibility
  • Hybrid Position: The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work-based business needs.

Overview
The Accounts Payable (AP) Payment Specialist will focus primarily on support of the Accounts Payable teams’ payment activities. Specifically, this will involve successfully working with various team members and other groups daily to ensure accurate and successful vendor payments. It will also involve working very closely with another member of the team in the same position to ensure all daily and monthly activities are completed timely and accurately. The AP Payment Specialist will also be responsible for partnering with team members to identify and support payment issues which can include ACH Bank returns, ERP system issues and other various payment problems. In this role we are looking for an individual with previous experience, who is highly organized and can multi-task well between various activities. The AP Payment Specialist will report to the Manager of Shared Services Processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate audit, approval, and submission of daily/weekly vendor payments
  • Continuously look for ways to improve the payment process and working capital initiatives
  • Work with Information Systems personnel to complete testing on identified issue resolution and support of company initiatives
  • Work with appropriate teams to integrate non-FSSC sites into the Shared Services model
  • Optimize vendor payments per due date to minimize both paying late or paying early
  • Manage coordination between other functions to troubleshoot issues
  • Builds team orientation and promotes core values and organizational learning
  • Ensure thorough documentation of key tasks and processes
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Meritor Accounts Payable operations, procedures, and policies

Job Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or similar area required
  • 3 years previous experience in a high-volume Finance or Shared Services environment
  • At least 1-year previous experience in a high-volume payments position
  • Ability to analyze data to identify issues, root-causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Experience within ERP system(s); Oracle specific experience is a plus
  • Must have ability to work effectively in a large, multi-level, geographically dispersed organization
  • Must be able to manage multiple work assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Accounting and Accounts Payable principles
  • Intermediate level Excel and Microsoft Word skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and follow-up skills
  • Ambitious, motivated, and well-organized self-starter focused on details, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
