Payable Specialist

As a Payable Specialist, you will be a key member of the team, working closely with both the Regional Accounting & Operation’s groups. The primary role of the Payable Specialist is to manage the accurate and timely payments to insurance carriers and external vendors on behalf of Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA).

We will count on you to:

• Reconcile carrier statements, invoices and account current reports within various reporting timeframes
• Research company payable issues including, but not limited to, policy billing and commission variances
• Process vendor invoices and check requests by obtaining required approvals and coding to appropriate general ledger account(s)
• Prepare payment of invoices following company disbursement guidelines in various formats (check, wire and ACH payments)
• Other accounting related duties as assigned

What you need to have:

• Proactive / Self-starter (takes initiative)
• Ability to research/resolve issues independently
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Team player
• Appreciation for details, accuracy, and data integrity
• Must be able to effectively multi-task and handle interruptions in work flow
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel (knowledge in macros and pivot tables a plus). Must learn applicable custom software applications.
