Position Summary: The Financial Counselor is responsible for verifying all admit orders are entered into the system correctly, obtaining/verifying patient demographics as needed, obtaining/verifying insurance information, verifying benefits and eligibility, initiating notification to the insurance company, and starting the authorization process for all patients admitted to the facility.

This is a fast-paced department that requires excellent customer service and communication skills along with multitasking. Patient Financial Services consists of PBX/Front Desk, OP Admitting, ER Admitting (which runs 24/7, weekends and holidays), Central Scheduling, and Cashier. PFS averages approximately 3725 registrations per month.

Shifts vary by area and are scheduled based on the needs of the department: Monday - Friday, five days per week: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate or GED Preferred. Strongly prefer at least three (3) to five (5) years of experience. Preferred experience in the following areas admitting and registration functions, insurance verifications, up front cash collections, customer service, and problem solving.

Must be able to communicate & comprehend accurately & effectively in English through written & verbal correspondence.
