Who We Are:

The Modern Classrooms Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a self-paced, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.

To date, we have reached over 50,000 teachers through our free online course and 7,000+ teachers through our Virtual Mentorship Program from over 200 school, district, and state partners. We are an ambitious, idealistic team led by former classroom teachers, and we are passionate about what we do.

Job Description:

The Tulsa Partnerships Manager will work within their designated partnership portfolio to support the expansion and implementation of Modern Classrooms Project work. The portfolio for this role will include Tulsa County and a regional territory to be defined. Candidates for this role must live in the Tulsa area to successfully support their partnerships. All Managers will play a lead role in recruiting and supporting teachers within partner schools, school systems, and states, and they must be credible to public school teachers. Ultimately, our partnerships support increasing the quality of teaching, leading to more students learning in responsive, personalized classrooms.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Tulsa Partnerships Manager will report directly to the Director of Partnerships. This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases. Based on performance and our growth, there may be opportunities to move into roles that include greater responsibility, customer engagement, solution development, and nonprofit management.

The Tulsa Partnerships Manager will work on three key areas:

Teacher Recruitment - The Manager is primarily responsible for teacher recruitment within partnerships. While partnerships are developed at the school, school system, and state levels, every teacher makes a decision about whether or not to engage with the Modern Classrooms Project. Teacher recruitment includes:

  • Driving toward specific goals for teacher participation with each partner.
  • Tailoring the approach for teacher recruitment based on the needs, challenges, incoming data, and opportunities for each partner.
  • Hosting teacher information sessions, both in-person and remotely.
  • Facilitating educator communities of practice to support community building and teacher-to-teacher sharing.

Portfolio Management - Depending on the size of the portfolio, some Managers will have the opportunity to directly manage portfolios of partners. In a growing organization, we anticipate this will become the norm over time. Each portfolio of partners will be unique to the portfolio, and reflect the capacity and needs of the team at the discretion of the director. Portfolio management includes:

  • Evaluating partner progress and proposing scopes of work that best meet partner needs, drive impact, and generate earned revenue through contract renewal.
  • Managing the contract renewal process from the proposal of a scope of work through contract closing.
  • Maintaining a renewal pipeline aligned to revenue targets and progress toward goals.
  • Leveraging relationships to expand to new schools and districts within the portfolio through direct asks and presence at regional conferences and events.
  • Visiting partners to observe teacher practice, provide feedback, and steward relationships within the partnership.

Administrative Tasks and Special Projects as Assigned - The Manager will hold some of the administrative, special projects, and operational tasks for the portfolio, as assigned by the Director. Our portfolio approach is new, and we know that there will be administrative tasks involved, including:

  • Data Entry - All partner data is entered into Salesforce.
  • Event Planning - On site events, such as partner planning meetings and teacher recruitment events, require advanced planning and coordination.
  • Partner Research - Upfront research on partners helps us to know more coming into meetings and proactively customize our implementation approach to the needs of the partner.
  • Building compelling presentations and collateral that support partners’ unique needs and tell a story of impact and rationale for continued work and expansion.
  • Supporting the unique needs of the partner by building resources and providing support to drive teacher growth and sharing across the partnership. These projects will be developed in collaboration with the Director and partner.

Habits of Work Required for the Role:

  • Strong Follow-Through: You follow through on your commitments, and do so on the stated timelines. This is essential to building and maintaining trusting relationships with partners, who themselves are managing high volume and complex roles.
  • Curiosity and Interest in Partners: Every school and school system is unique. Modern Classrooms Project works best when the implementation approach is tailored to the unique context of the partner.
  • Attention to Detail in High Volume Work: From Salesforce entry to planning every minute of a site visit, attention to detail is required for every part of this role.
  • Building Relationships with Partners: Building strong and lasting relationships with partners is at the heart of this role. Because our partners are conducting work in person, we believe we need to be in-person and on site frequently as well. So travel is a required part of building relationships.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience as a teacher.
  • Track record of strong communications skills - will be applied through public speaking, presentations, writing, and in 1:1 settings with partners.
  • Track record of managing a high volume of tasks while meeting deadlines, fulfilling work obligations, and making decisions grounded in data.
  • Eagerness to work in a start-up environment. This includes comfort with working independently, working remotely, and establishing the foundations for the future of partnerships while trying and testing new strategies along the way.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, including listening, problem-solving, and following through on commitments.

Preferred Experiences:

  • Experience working with district or CMO-level leadership
  • Established network with schools and school systems in Tulsa County
  • Lead teacher using the Modern Classrooms Project model

STATEMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION: The Modern Classrooms Project is committed to equal employment opportunity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or ethnicity. We are strongly committed to hiring a diverse team and encourage applications from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION:
We are committed to the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion so that every day, in every classroom, every student is seen, challenged, and supported. We recognize the impact of educational inequities, especially on historically underserved communities, and will be intentional in developing practical solutions that remove barriers to student achievement. We understand that to effectively promote change, we must be stewards of it in the workplace. We will ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of our decision-making, recruiting practices, organization policies, advancement opportunities, and treatment of each other. Through leading by example and continuous learning from teachers, community partners, and each other, we will establish MCP as a leader in developing equity and inclusion in the classroom and beyond.
