Overview

Underground Books is a community-centered bookstore serving the diverse needs of Oak Park and the greater Sacramento Area residents. We are seeking a Part-Time Bookseller with strong customer service skills, a passion for books and reading.

Role and Responsibilities

The Bookseller position has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

• Implementing day-to-day store operations including providing friendly and helpful customer service, utilizing the POS system to assist customers in finding and purchasing books, following opening or closing store procedures, and keeping the store tidy

• Building customer relations by providing book recommendations, assisting with gift and marketplace purchases and playing an active role in meeting customers’ needs

• Supporting inventory management through new merchandise shipping and receiving, keeping sales floor stocked, and monitoring merchandise sales trends

• Arranging book and marketplace displays to sell and promote books and merchandise
• Assisting with planning and setting up special events
• Other duties will be customize based on skills and may include:

• Creating engaging window and store displays to coincide with events, holidays, or by theme
• Analyzing store data to improve marketing plans, systems of operation or purchasing
• Coordinating and implementing special events, including children’s events, community outreach, writing workshops etc.
• Researching and developing relationships with local, small and black-owned businesses with products that enhance and align the marketplace inventory
• Enhancing social media strategy and plans and e-commerce site

• Must be available to work at least 10-24 hours per week and available on weekends

Salary
St. HOPE offers a competitive hourly wage commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a part-time position.
