The Public Works Department for the Town of Garner is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to work as part of a team performing various manual and semi-skilled tasks in the care and maintenance of Town right of ways.

• Assisting with right of way maintenance work; operating equipment; mowing grass;
• Performs a variety of maintenance tasks such as cutting lawns, using power hand equipment,
• Applies general use pesticides to various plant materials on some Town and state right of ways;
• Operates all equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks such as backhoes, dump trucks, tractors, hand tools and mowing machines;
• Mows grass, removes trash, trims shrubbery, clears and landscapes some Town and state rights-of-way;
• Performs related tasks as required.

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Familiarity with tools, equipment and materials used in grounds maintenance.
• General knowledge of horticulture and landscaping.
• Able to exercise sound decision making, comply with workplace safety regulations, and follow written and oral instructions.

Participation in emergency response activities and support of Town special events is expected. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
