Description
The Kentucky Horse Park is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Parks Camping Manager Located within minutes of downtown Lexington, KY, the Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,224-acre working horse farm, equine theme park, and internationally renowned equine competition facility. Founded in 1978, the Park is owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and attracts more than 800,000 visitors from around the world annually. The Park also boasts a 260-site campground and is home to the International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian affiliate.

The ideal candidate should be a hard worker, have customer service skills and work well as a team or on their own.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Oversees campground operations and the work performed of full time and interim employees at the campground; including cash handling, reservation systems and point of sales training.
  • Responsible for stock levels, which include re-ordering operating supplies and grocery items for resale in the trading post.
  • Responsible for the daily registration and check in process of camp sites; including daily site checks for incoming and onsite reservations, nightly reserved signs, and monitoring primitive and primitive electric areas.
  • Provide professional support for group reservations, including sites closures, phone reservations and final invoices for sites and facility rentals.
  • Responsible for prompt replies to phone messages, website contact inquiries, pavilion rentals and facility rental contracts.
  • Responsible for maintaining media board content and website material is updated and complete.
  • Answer phone calls and inquiries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in the operation of recreational/accommodation facilities or retail business management.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional training in the above fields will substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional related experience will substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

Work is typically performed outdoors.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
