Job description

The Parent Outreach Workers (POW) will work collaboratively with families, and Home School Liaisons (HSL) to ensure a strong two-way communication between schools and families. The POW will serve as a bridge between the McKenna Center leadership and HSL to help families through both short term and long term situations that may be impacting the family and their students to be fully engaged. The POW is responsible for partnering with families and supporting the HSL to provide direct support and services. Key Goals and Responsibilities: Assist the FACE Team; outreach to families with the goal of enhancing participation in their childrens education, by assisting with the recruitment and/or coordination of educational opportunities for families.

Responsible for connecting families to services and community resources relevant to the educational or social well-being of the student.Support McKenna Leadership and HSL with welcoming and outreach to new families in the district Support HSL, School Leadership, and other school personnel with the coordination and participation of home visits as needed to support home-school connection, attendance concerns, provide family support, etc. Provide language services, translation and interpretation, to support families and educators in maintaining open communication as partners in education.Assist with the recruitment of families to engage in Parent Advisory Council, Special Ed Local Advisory Council, English Language Learner Advisory Council, and School Improvement Teams, all teams inclusive of a diverse range of family perspectives and other leadership opportunities.Serve as the schools Parent Volunteer Lead Assist with the distribution of food at the McKenna Food PantryParticipate in training opportunities to become effective Parent Outreach Workers of excellence and equitable education.Maintain a log of calls and activities completed. Other duties as assigned by the FACE leadership Team. *This is a grant funded position, rate of pay is $18 per hour*
