Job description
Paraeducators support the mission of the district by serving students in various school settings including the classroom, playground and cafeteria.
Duties for this position will vary based upon the assignment. Please refer to the attached Paraeducator I (Support) job description for further information regarding the essential functions of this position. Flexibility and an attitude of cooperation with the ability to move from classroom-to-classroom to provide services throughout the district is required.
Terms of Employment: 189 days per year, when school is in session. The current work schedule is 8:10 a.m. - 2:50 p.m. on regular student attendance days, 9:10 a.m. - 2:50 p.m. on late start days, and 8:10 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. on early release days. The schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the district.

Salary: $18.23 per hour after successful completion of a probationary period of 60 working days/480 hours of employment (whichever is less). The probationary rate of pay is $16.40 per hour.
Benefits: This position is eligible for a generous benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement, and annual paid personal and sick leave. Optional supplemental benefits include Life, LTD, FSA, DCAP, and deferred compensation.

- This position is covered by the SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- A valid CPR Card (or the ability to obtain a valid card) is required upon hire.
- Selected candidates may undergo appropriate applicant testing prior to being offered an interview.
- The successful candidate for this position must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and clearance by Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or the equivalent (48 semester/72 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university OR a minimum score of 461 on the ETS ParaPro Assessment
- Proof of high school graduation or equivalent
- Willingness and ability to complete professional development courses required by the State of Washington towards paraeducator certification
- Regular attendance to be successful in the position
